Our School Council is made up of two students per class who are elected to represent the views of all pupils within our school.
Reps meet every Wednesday to discuss and find solutions to issues that have been raised by children across our school. This may include ideas for playground improvement, school lunches, celebrations, assemblies and ideas for fundraising events.
Members of our School Council are responsible for holding a weekly class meeting and actioning the ideas that have been agreed, with the help of their teachers.
Through our School Council meetings, all pupils have the opportunity share ideas and take part in discussions that result in reaching a democratic solution. Pupils at Monega know that this is their school and that their thoughts and ideas matter.
Did you know?
The word democracy describes a form of government. The word comes from two Greek words that mean “rule by the people.” In a democracy the people have a say in how the government is run. They do this by voting. Democracy is one of the five British Values and at Monega we vote for who we want to represent our class as a School Council Rep.
